Thanks a lot for the slew of ideas and suggestions for the new blog name. After carefully considering several great options, we are happy to announce that we have a winner: “Turing’s Invisible Hand”. An honorable mention goes to “The Best Response”, which came in a close second. Both suggestions were contributed anonymously; I call on the contributors to de-anonymize themselves and take their place in history alongside Shakespeare and Dante.
By the way, originally I had in mind letting readers vote over the suggested names, and was fantasizing about devious voting rules and impregnable false-name-proof schemes. Ultimately though we decided that semi-dictatorship is the way to go. Nevertheless, I found it both amusing and helpful that people took matters into their own hands by “+1”-ing ideas. The moral: democracy is unstoppable, dictators beware!
I won something at last! I guess I should leave academia and become a professional blog namer. 🙂
Happy Alan Turing Year everyone!
Felix
Shakespeare, Dante, Fischer; sounds good! When you make millions of dollars per blog name on the private market, we will fondly remember your free contribution to us.
Unfortunately the current template does not have an “about” page, so I can’t immediately provide eternal recognition, but this will hopefully be fixed soon.
I submitted The (second) Best Response and my name is already a part of literary history even though I, myself, am not.
Looking forward to the revitalized blog!
Best,
Samuel Johnson
That Johnson just wrote a dictionary, your contribution is certainly more influential; perhaps it will even get picked up by another blog 🙂
Thanks a lot!
I know it’s too late now, but just for the sport:
“Rationality bites”
+1, but indeed too late
